More than 200 fans pushed and shoved to get a glimpse of Spanish heartthrob singer Enrique Iglesias and Russian tennis player Anna Kournikova when the couple arrived at Cape Town International Airport yesterday.

Fans - young and old - airport staff and a media contingent gathered outside the international arrivals terminal and waited patiently for nearly two hours for the Latin star, whose private jet had been delayed when it stopped to refuel in Nairobi.

Iglesias is here for the South African leg of a world tour .

The South African tour begins at the Bellville Velodrome tomorrow night.

Local singer Tamara Dey will be Iglesias's opening act.

He has just finished a concert in the Ukraine, which was part of his European tour.

The son of 1980s sex symbol Julio Iglesias, Enrique was dressed in cargo pants and matching jacket.

His tennis player girlfriend wore an elegant but casual black jacket, comfortable jeans and what looked like an engagement ring on her left hand.

Iglesias already has worldwide album sales of over 30 million (18 million of which are for songs he sings in Spanish), five American Music Awards, two Grammy Awards, two Billboard Music Awards and a World Music Award.

In addition to having become something of a music phenomenon, Iglesias also supports Unite Against Hunger - a programme that provides food relief for more than 80 000 needy South Africans every month.

The programme is run by Tiger Brands.

Fans of the Spaniard can SMS the word "hunger" to 082 003 9040 and donate R10 to the programme.

The concert in Cape Town tomorrow will be followed by one at the Westridge Park Stadium in Durban on Thursday,

one at the Sun City Superbowl and another at The Dome in Johannesburg.

Tickets range from R150 to R300 and can be booked online at Computicket, or by telephoning the Computicket Call Centre on 083 915 8000.
